Before they left, however, they created thousands upon thousands of super intelligent robots. Sadly, the robots were left behind on Earth by their former human companions, so they did what any group of super intelligent robots left behind on Earth would do - they cloned dinosaurs to be their friends! Did I mention that when they cloned the dinosaurs they gave them bigger brains so they could talk? Well, they did. So there you have it - it's the distant future, in a world of robots and dinosaurs.
  • You Suck CD

    Christopher Moore, Susan Bennett

Audio CD (HarperAudio, Jan. 16, 2007)
"You bitch, you killed me. You suck!" Being dead sucks. Make that being undead sucks. Literally. Just ask Thomas C. Flood. Waking up after a fantastic night unlike anything he's ever experienced, he discovers that his girlfriend, Jody—the woman of his dreams—is a vampire. And surprise! Now he's one, too. For some couples, the whole biting-and-blood thing would have been a deal breaker. But Tommy and Jody are in love, and they vow to work through their issues. Like how much Jody should teach Tommy about his new superpowers (and how much he needs to learn on his own). Plus there's Tommy's cute new minion, sixteen-year-old goth girl Abby Normal. (Well, someone has to run errands during daylight hours!) Making the relationship work, however, is the least of Jody and Tommy's problems. Word has it that the vampire who nibbled on Jody wasn't supposed to be recruiting any new members into the club. Even worse, Tommy's erstwhile turkey-bowling pals are out to get him, at the urging of a blue-dyed Las Vegas call girl named (duh) Blue. And that really sucks.
  • DROWNING

The Ear.—The part of the ear which we can see is shaped somewhat like a trumpet. The small opening near the middle of the ear leads into a canal or tube which extends into the head about an inch. At the inner end there is a curious little chamber. This is called the drum of the ear, because between it and the canal of the ear there is stretched a thin membrane like the head of a drum. The ear-drum is also called the middle ear.

  • Dreamcats

    Christopher Best

language (The Book Guild, Jan. 24, 2018)
Dreamcats follows the adventures of two siblings, Elsa and David, who are locked in a dream in which the ‘people’ are large English-speaking cats who live in a town called Felinestow. These cats regard human children either as potential pets or food. Elsa and David find themselves incapable of normal speech but are instead able to communicate to each other via meows, which are unintelligible to the cats! The siblings arrive in Felinestow and are suddenly captured and held in an animal compound. Here they learn that Felinestow’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Humans is rounding up stray children for slaughter. However, a benign police cat, George, takes them into his care as pets. At George’s home, the children meet Bozo, George’s cockney dog companion, who the children discover eats human chops. Elsa starts to plot their escape but the Siamese cats, from across the border, declare war on Felinestow’s and the children find themselves caught up in the struggle.Elsa and David are thrown into a race against time. There is so much happening in Felinestow – including upheaval and terror caused by Mayor Claptrap and his cat paramilitaries, and the children’s discovery that their cousins are also in the dream – and that though Elsa and David are constantly trying to work out whether events are real or a dream, they can’t help being swept up in the chaos and turmoil.Author Christopher Best lives in Hertfordshire and based the characters in the story around his young grandchildren who he has dedicated the book to.

  • The Boy Who Wanted to Marry His Dog

    Bill Freedman, Christopher Bennett

eBook (The Key Publishing House inc., Oct. 18, 2011)
The book consists of three interconnected stories. They stand for the importance of self-acceptance, quest for knowledge, love and determination. Through the critical comic illustrations, The Ugliest Animal in the World reflects how the beauty industry uses media-propaganda to influence and reshape children’s perception and behaviour. A second story, Newton Fangle of New Sense, satirizes the contemporary fascinations with technology and newness, innovation and time-saving efficiency at the expense of the simpler, more aesthetic and leisurely pleasures of life. The title story, The Boy Who Wanted to Marry His Dog, outlines in a comic way the passion of love and brave determination one can use to realize his or her dream and future endeavours. In short, these stories provide young readers with valuable notions and inspirations for self-respect; pursuit of knowledge, innovation, love, and brave decision-making. They are suitable for children ages 6-10.
